Bellefonte 12Us tops Huntingdon; forces title tilt

HUNTINGDON – They WILL meet again!

The Bellefonte 11/12Us battled back through the losers bracket of the Section 4 chapter to try to even up their series with Huntingdon.

In their first meeting, one bad inning by Bellefonte helped Huntingdon take the first game 12-6.

It was win or go home Tuesday night as Bellefonte looked to Braedyn Kormanic to help even the series.

Along with a feisty defense, Bellefonte was able to go onto the 5-3 victory, giving both teams a loss.

Kormanic was not only tough on the mound but a beast on the base paths as he went 2-for-3 with a 3-run home run and a single.

Defensively, Bellefonte stopped any potential Huntingdon rally with three double plays.

Picking up multiple hits in the contest were Kormanic, Triston Heckman (2-for-3) and Jake Corman (2-for-3).

Bellefonte got on board first as it posted three runs in the second inning.

Heckman got things started with a single into left.

Collin Sharp followed with a walk, putting runners on first and second.

With two out, Kormanic stood tall and blasted a shot over the centerfield fence, making it 3-0.

While the offense was working, its defense was also heating up as it botched its first double play to foul Huntingdon’s first rally.

In the third , Bellefonte extended its lead to five.

Grayson Alterio started things off as he picked up the walk. He moved up to second on a fielders choice.

Heckman made it interesting as he singled and the Bearcats tried to catch Alterio at third. While waiting for an umpires decision, Heckman moved up to second and then scored as the ball sent to get him out went into the outfield, allowing both to score.

Huntingdon battled back in the fourth as it plated one. Aston Steele walked and then scored on a single by Anthony Patti, cutting it to 5-1.

But Kormanic would remain solid on the hill as he cut the Bearcats down in the fifth.

However, Huntingdon had one last punch left and would make it a closer ball game in the sixth.

With Briar Ronk on base with a single, Steele stood tall and sent an offering over the fence, making it a 5-3 affair.

A coaches confidence can do so much for his players as manager Jake Corman left Kormanic in.

Kormanic was unphased after the Home run and was able to shut down Huntingdon the rest of the way for the victory.

With the win, Bellefonte and Huntingdon will play a winner-take-all championship game to decide the Section 4 title.
