East Juniata girls hold Newport to five points en route to 40-point win

After an impressive defensive showing against Bald Eagle Area in its Monday night victory, the East Juniata girls took its defense to a higher level Tuesday in its game against Newport.

The clamp down defensive, high tempo style proved to be too much for the Buffaloes as the Tigers won going away 45-5.

Defensively, East Juniata bookend the contest with shut outs in the first and fourth quarters.

Leading the offensive charge was Alyssa Robinson with nine. She was also good from beyond the arc, hitting two.

Teammates Alyssa Hibbs and Clayre Guyer both chipped in with eight points each.

In the first quarter it was all East Juniata as they outscored Newport 9-0.

The Tigers posted 16 in the second quarter while holding the Buffaloes to only three.

East Juniata’s domination continued in the third as they pinned Newport to only two second half points en route to the 45-5 victory.
