Nine and “OH!” BEA Girls score eight goals in win over St. Joes

WINGATE – It was a sizzling Saturday morning for the Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team in their match against St. Joseph Academy.

Despite the chilly temperatures, the Lady Eagles warmed up the playing field as they battled for six second half goals, en route to the 8-0 victory.

From the very beginning, the Eagles pushed the ball deep into the Wolves back-third and continued to pound away.

Falen McHenry led the scoring on the day, posting a hat trick.

St.Joseph was able to get a few runs down into the Eagles end but most drives would only be just a few touches and then Bald Eagle would take back the possession.

       “The girls came out on fire in the second half and played with 100% commitment and a whole lot of heart,” said Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore. “They impress me every time I watch them play. I’m so proud of how hard they play every game and the effort they give. They play for each other.”

In the first half, the Wolves were forced to lose a goal on an own goal situation just 3:51 into the game.

After numerous shots at the St. Joes end, the Lady Eagles were able to post its second one through thanks to a Emily Shiels goal off an assist by Sara Holler at 29:41.

The Eagles defense was stingy all day, allowing just one shot on goal the whole game.

Offensively, the Lady Eagles went to the goal a lot, posting 22 shots.

Keeper Rachel Veneziano picked up the lone shot on goal.

Falen McHenry got the second half off and running as she took a pass from Shiels and blasted it through at the 41:17 mark.

The two teamed up again minutes later as McHenry made it a two-goal day on an assist from Shiels at 45:32

Falen McHenry scores once again off a Zoey McHenry assist this time at 60:11.

Addison Proctor scored from a Heather Leskovansky assist at 74:59 to make it 6-0.

Mara Hockenberry posted one past the Wolves goalie from a pass from Z. McHenry at 78:15.

After two assists, Z. McHenry finally got her name in the scoring column posting an unassisted goal at 79:50 to round out the scoring.

 Bald Eagle is now 9-0 overall and 6-0 Mountain League.
