St.Joseph Academy track and field finishes strong at the United Invitational

The Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy track and field team competed at the United Invitational in Armagh, PA.

The boys team finished 10th overall  in a strong field that featured many top District 6 AA teams. Carter Kauffman set a meet record with his 3200m victory in 10:08.38. Josh Hershbine and Jonah Clark added 3rd place finishes in the mile and 800, respectively, to add to the Wolves scoring. Carter, Jonah, and Josh teamed with Asa Reynolds to run 3:48.80 in the 4×4 for 5th place.

The girls team won the title behind several meet record performances. The girls’ 4x800m relay team of Julia Cusatis, Myah Chappell, Kathleen Simander and Sera Mazza ran 9:45.24 to establish a new meet record. Julia Cusatis would rewrite the record book in the 800 with a win in 2:23.16. Myah, Kathleen, and Sera joined Clare Marsh in the 4x400m relay to run a new school and meet record of 4:13.12. Several others made trips to the podium on the day. Izzy Warren won the 100m hurdles, finished 2nd in the long jump and 3rd in the triple jump. Clare won the 300m hurdles. Myah added a 5th in the 400, while Kathleen turned in a runner up performance in the 800. Clare and Izzy combined with Madi Mazza and Ava Starks in the 4x100m relay to finish 4th in a school record time of 54.29. Kate Youngmark was runner-up in the 3200 and 6th in the 1600.

The Wolves travel to Hollidaysburg on Tuesday for a dual meet.
