Halifax bats too much for East Juniata

COCOLAMUS – It was an off night for the East Juniata bats Monday afternoon as the Tigers fell victim to a potent Halifax offense, falling

Despite hitting the ball hard, the Tigers were only able to get three hits to fall in the contest.

Picking up hits in the game we’re Logan Wagner, who roped a double, Jayden Martin and Trent Risbin.

Halifax’s Blake Miller picked up the win while Dan Kanagy took the loss.

Miller went 4 2/3 innings with allowing no runs and only one hit.

Coming in to finish off the game for the Wildcats was Clayton Paul.

“The kids hit the ball hard but it just didn’t fall for us tonight. We just couldn’t seem to find enough hits off their first pitcher,” said East Juniata Coach Justin Martin. “He seemed to have our number. He’s very good pitcher. We saw him twice and we weren’t able to make anything happen off him. We struggled with him.”

In the top of the first, Halifax opened with a run.

Leadoff hitter Tyler Berzowski doubled into centerfield to start the game off. He moved over to third on a sizzling single into left by Carson Buffington.

Berzowski scores on a sacrifice fly by Nath Blasich. Blasich had a huge game for the Wildcats, just missing  the cycle by a triple. He went 4-for-4 with a home run, double, single and three RBIs along with three runs scored.

After holding the Tigers gutless in the first and second. The visitors got back on the scoreboard in the third, plating three.

Again, Berzowski reaches, this time on a miscue by the Tigers.

Buffington laid down a sacrice bunt down first, advancing Berzowski to second.

Blasich sent a ground rule double into centerfield, scoring Berzowski on the hit.

Miller helped his own cause as he stepped up and doubled to right, upping it to 3-0.

Miller would later score on a single by Malacai Zilinski, ending it at a 4-0 contest.

The Wildcats hurler had it going early, tossing a no-hitter going into the fourth.

Jayden Martin singled a grounder past first base, ending Miller’s no-hitter bid.

The batter before, Logan Wagner walked to end the perfect game.

In the Wildcats part of the fourth, the team added onto the lead with two more in the inning.

Martin took to the mound in the fourth and was able to pick up four strike outs in limited action.

But the runs kept coming in the firth and sixth, highlighted by a Blasich shot that cleared the centerfield fence.

In the seventh, Halifax notched five hits along with three insurance runs.

When the dust settled, the Wildcats picked up the 12-0 lead.

With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-9 on the season in Tri-Valley Keague action and 5-10 overall.
