Mifflin County girls return to win column; tops Juniata in OT

Mifflin County and Juniata took the prime time spot Saturday night and the two would not disappoint as the Huskies survived a 2-1 overtime victory.

The Lady Huskies struck first on a Sarah Henry goal at 32:50.

Juniata tied the game when Nylah Pannebaker received a pass from Ashlyn Pennabaker driving a shot from the top of the 18 into the top corner.

“We were a little off. We had difficulty connecting passes to feet and finishing and just didn’t move the ball as well as we normally do,” said Juniata coach Laresa Paden. “We looked good in spurts, but definitely didn’t play the game we are capable of. The opportunities were there we just had trouble finding the back of the net tonight.”

In the overtime period, MC’s Lily Yoder off a pass from Sarah Henry ended it at 82:06.

Juniata goalie Hailey Kepner faced 21 shots on goal and had 19 saves. One of her saves including a penalty kick diving low to the right deflecting the shot.

Mifflin County’s Maddison Finkenbiner tallied eight.

Mifflin County led in shots on goal by a 10-7 margin.

Both finished with three corners each.

MC improves to 5-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in Mid-Penn.
